So I’ve been siting here, reminiscing about my summer in Spain while reading my friend’s blog since she is currently in Rome, Italy having the TIME OF HER LIFE. Super jealous, so I figured it might help to reminisce about what I did, and what I would like to do when I get my next chance to go.

The best food I ever ate

Before the madness starts...

There was a picture of her eating some churros with chocolate, (O churros con chocolate en Madrid) and I remembered the time my senora, More, sent me out to get these magically delicious things that are COMPLETELY different in America than Spain. She and her friend Mickey told me to get enough por una boda, for a wedding… Who knew I could ever eat that much!  So I got a TON and 4 of us sat and ate these, which was one of the best things I ever ate there!

But I didn’t know the trick about the chocolate, and she poured me a HUGE cup of it, and I didn’t tell her to stop because More doesn’t take no for an answer when it comes to eating… So here I was dipping these churros into the chocolate until I could eat no more, and there was still a LOT of chocolate left. Everyone around me starts EATING THE CHOCOLATE with their spoons, and she stares at me waiting for me to do the same… I literally thought I was going to explode! No one told me this unspoken rule about eating everything on your plate.

Luckily, my ultimate favorite thing happened after this meal, tiempo para una siesta! I took daily siestas from about 2:30-5:30, since what else can you do in the 40 Celsius weather, after eating a huge meal, with no air conditioning? Sleep it off, that’s what.

So tonight, eat, drink and be merry!

Que tal mis hidalgos?!

1. Hidalgo= hijo de algo… Used by Miguel de Cervantes in Don Quijote.

So today I spoke with a family friend’s brother who currently works in the healthcare world but has a job that I envy the most… speaking Spanish and traveling to Spain often. How lucky is that! He told me his story and how he achieved this, and it sounds like the other stories which are a combination of luck, loyalty, and good timing. He did give me a tip though and that was to study Spanish and keep practicing as much as I exercise (which isn’t much right now).

It seems like great advice to me! So I’ve been going through my old books and notes to see what I come up with, and reading and practicing for about an hour today. Definitely want to work on this, since I hope to be traveling or at least speaking Spanish soon!

I think I’m getting too antsy and need to plan a small adventure in the meantime… Any suggestions of cool places in the US you’ve been?

Hello world! Hola el mundo!

I have decided to switch over to wordpress, instead of the google blogs for many reasons. Their website is laid out so nicely and organized so well, that it was super appealing to me… Someone also asked me yesterday, that if I could start a blog about anything, what would it be? I replied, “Anything having to do with Spain! I love the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal as well, and speak Spanish and Portuguese! I fell in love with everything and everyone spanish”. So I’ve decided to talk about my experiences, new things I find that I could be doing in Spain, or even Portugal!
